Born in Florence in 1925, Nedo Fiano survived Auschwitz after being forced to work in the Kanada Kommando, sorting the belongings of deportees arriving at the camp. Through his testimony and the memories of his children and grandchildren, the film retraces his arrest, deportation, the loss of his entire family at Auschwitz-Birkenau, and the “death march” that took him through seven other camps. It also explores how the trauma of the Holocaust was passed down through generations, through silence, memory, and painful stories.
